Founder
I got my wings along with my son and daughters after a long career in Law. I was lucky enough to still be able to enjoy a career in flying even as an older pilot. And spend tons of time flying down to Mexico with the family. I started Desert Breeze to give others the opportunity to discover the joy of flying, no matter the age or background!
Thomas Scherer
Co-Founder & Lead Flight Instructor
Born and raised in Boise Idaho, I moved down to Phoenix to be surrounded by aviation. In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking. My mission is to create good, insurable pilots that can transition to their dream job or aircraft without a hassle.
Clay Hammargren
Flight Instructor
After relocating from California to Arizona in 2016, I developed a strong interest in aviation during my junior year of high school. I now love the world of aviation and the adventures I get to enjoy in it every day. Beyond flying, I value maintaining an active lifestyle and often spend my free time on outdoor activities.
Gray Owen
Flight Instructor
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky I first found my love for flying airplanes in high school, eventually making the decision to pursue a career in the industry. Since then I have not looked back and have found love for teaching students the thrill of aviation. In my free time I love spending time watching sports and getting outside to go on a hike as much as I can.
